The past few days have provided some much needed rest as I ponder next steps and a busy itinerary in the coming weeks. I’ve heard from a few readers who were concerned I’d gotten lost in Miss Daisy or perhaps overdosed on salsa. No, no, no worries there.  I am currently in the Okanagan Valley, in Penticton. Like many of you, I needed a long weekend. It also gave me some time to get in touch even a bit more with the message my heart has been trying to send me.

Before I left Ottawa, I met with a fellow RVer who spends the winters in California with her husband.  We joked together as I told her of my plans to travel out west and she said, “Heather, when you get to Vancouver, just turn left and head to California!”

I kind of laughed it off as good fun, but we do that with crazy ideas don’t we? We think “Oh, I could Never do that…..that’s too crazy!” and we quickly dismiss them as too far-fetched. Well, I’ve made it this far in a Daisymobile, what’s a bit further?

Thoughts of California came up again last week when I received an email from a fellow cyclist, enticing me to venture to the roads of the US Pacific Coast.

Your heart always knows what you really want and it’ll keep talking to you until you listen.

I’ve mentioned to a few friends along the way that I’d love to get on the Ellen Show with Miss Daisy. And then left it at that, as just a thought, a remote dream.

Until yesterday.  I called my friend Tara in Calgary to chat. If you ever want to talk about possibilities and “Yes” living, Tara is the gal to call. By the end of our call together, I’d ordered some Ellen coffee mugs off Ellen’s website and set my intention – I want to be on the Ellen Show with Miss Daisy. Somehow.

Maybe I could be the guest who’s driven the furthest in an RV to be on the show? Maybe Miss Daisy could be the only

inspirational RV ever to appear on Ellen? Maybe Ellen would host a show inside Miss Daisy? Maybe Ellen and I could do a road trip together? I don’t know.

But I know this. When I set out on this adventure I committed to following my heart wherever it took me. I think that is what going for your dreams in life is about. Our hearts contain our dreams, our true desires, our deeper wisdom and they know. It’s to our own peril to ignore its’ calling.

Right now my heart is calling me to California. At some point during this trip.

What’s been interesting is that in the past week I’ve been thinking a lot about dreams and received many great quotes about dreams from friends. Life will somehow deliver what you need to hear.

One of my friends sent me a quote from an 85 year old woman which read “If I had to live life all over again, I’d pick more daisies.” I got to thinking about that quote as well as the others. I don’t want to look back one day and say that I wish I’d done this or I wish I’d done that. I wish I’d tried to get on the Ellen Show. I wish I’d gone to California. I decided that I want to live my life in a way that if I asked myself the question, “Could I die today?”, that I’d be living my life knowing I’d done everything and lived in a manner that left no room for anything but a feeling of fullness.

It’s a big dream but why not me? That’s a question I often ask my clients in our coaching work together, “Why not you?”, when they come up with all the obstacles as to why they can’t go for or achieve their own goals. It’s time for me to ask myself that same question when it comes to this goal. “Why not me?” I can’t come up with a good reason.

I received a synchronously timed message in my inbox this morning. It read “There’s never been a dream bigger than its dreamer”.

And so it begins, my quest for me and Miss Daisy to be on the Ellen Show.

**On Sept 22nd my good friend Peggy McColl is hosting a fabulous party to launch her upcoming book, “The Won Thing”. Peggy has been a friend, mentor and big supporter of mine this past year and I give her a large dose of credit for encouraging me to pursue my big dreams in life. If you’re in Ottawa, I’ll hope you’ll join me at this FREE event which includes hypnotist Wayne Lee, comedienne Kat Simmons, guest speakers Bob Proctor (from The Secret) and Lauren Miller and singing by Alison Comrie. It is going to be a really fun evening!! And there are plenty of prizes to be won!! Check it out and rsvp now! http://thewonthing.com/rsvp/

    Hi Heather,
and I presume, as always, you will let us know the date you’ll be on the Ellen Show!!

Glad to see you back here, and that you are somewhat rested.

I think you need to pick daisies for Ellen… sure she’d like that :)

    Have a great day Heather

  • Angela Farthing:

You’re right Heather, why not you? You’ve gotten this far, there’s nothing standing in your way. I’m with Lynne, let us know the date of the show so we can all watch and say hey we know her!

Ellen’s website has a link to “be part of the show”..she’s looking for summer pics and it states “did anything hilarious, amazing or just plain crazy happen to you this summer?” I’m thinking you definitely meet this requirement along with Miss Daisy!

Let me know what California is like, I’m living through you for the moment and enjoying it.
